Savvy drivers in Rye and Stamford know that proper maintenance is key to peak performance and longevity, but what’s on the schedule for your Mercedes-Benz vehicle? In this guide, the service team at Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich runs you through the key differences between Mercedes-Benz Service A and Mercedes-Benz Service B. Get all the information you need about car care, and then schedule your next maintenance appointment in Greenwich!

What’s the Mercedes-Benz Service A Checklist?

Mercedes-Benz Service A* is performed after one year or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Following this initial interval, you’ll schedule Service A every 20,000 miles or two years: at 30,000 miles/Three Years, 50,000 Miles/Five Years, and so on.

While the specific services can vary from one model to the next, Service A generally includes the following services:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

What’s the Mercedes-Benz Service B Checklist?

Mercedes-Benz Service B* is performed at 20,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first. It will subsequently be performed at 20,000-Mile/Two-year intervals: at 40,000 Miles/Four Years, 60,000 Miles/Six Years, and 80,000 Miles/Eight Years. You get the picture.

Many checklist items from Service A will be performed again, since certain tasks need to be taken care of every year. Of course, there are also some key differences. Here’s what you can expect during Service B:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

Service A vs. Service B Intervals: How Do They Differ?

Still not entirely clear on the factors that distinguish Mercedes-Benz A Service vs. B Service? The most important difference between Mercedes-Benz Service A and Mercedes-Benz Service B is the timing. Mercedes-Benz Service A is scheduled following one year or 10,000 miles, while Mercedes-Benz Service B takes place after two years or 20,000 miles. While both Service A and Service B cover the checklist items that need to be performed each year, Service B also covers items that only need to be performed every other year!

For example, brake fluid replacement and cabin air filter replacement take place during Service B. Additionally, models like the CLA and GLA AMG® may receive an engine air filter replacement during Service B as well.
