What is Mercedes-Benz Service B?

Man Fixing Elevated Cars

Your first Mercedes-Benz Service B* appointment will come after 20,000 miles or after two years on the roads near Rye, whichever comes first. After this milestone, you’ll schedule Service B every 20,000 miles or so. That means it’s one of the most important items in your service schedule, but what is Mercedes-Benz Service B, and what does it actually include? The final list may vary depending on your model and model year, but you can always expect to receive:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange

Remember to adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

Certain models may also receive an air filter replacement with Service B, and additional services are often required for diesel models, models with V12 engines, and models built by AMG®. Service B for diesel-powered vehicles often includes fuel filter replacement and AdBlue fluid replacement, too.

Differences Between Service A and Service B

The team at our Mercedes-Benz service center wants you to be prepared for every item on your maintenance schedule. Mercedes-Benz Service B is similar in almost all respects to Mercedes-Benz Service A. However, there are a few differences that you should be aware of:

  • In addition to covering all of the items on your Service A checklist, Service B will generally also include brake fluid replacement and cabin air filter replacement.
  • As we noted above, the specific services included with your visit may vary based on a multitude of factors. However, Service B always involves a more expansive checklist than Service A.
  • The time to schedule Service A is indicated by a single wrench on your main console; Service B is indicated by two wrenches.
  • In general, you’ll alternate between Service A and Service B, scheduling one or the other every 10,000 miles or so.

As you rack up years and miles behind the wheel of your Mercedes-Benz, your ASSYST PLUS** service tracker may display any letter from A to F!  Although A and B are the most common, the appearance of another letter just means that there might be extra items that need to be inspected. In any case, we’ll know exactly what you need when you schedule Mercedes-Benz service near Rye.

How Much Does Mercedes-Benz Service B Cost?

Expect your Mercedes-Benz Service B cost to be slightly higher than that which you paid for Service A. However, the exact price will vary depending on your model, model year, and other factors.***  For up-to-the-minute service pricing, call our Mercedes-Benz service center at (866) 285-4034.
